About the Artist: Nobuntu, the exhilarating female a cappella quartet from Zimbabwe, has drawn international acclaim for their inventive performances that infuse traditional and original Zimbabwean songs in the mbube style with Afro-Jazz and Gospel, and the occasional popular song. The ensemble's concerts are performed with pure voices in a variety of native languages, dialects, and styles, and augmented by minimalistic percussion, traditional instruments such as the Mbira (thumb piano), and organic, authentic dance movements. They sing with an uncanny vocal blend, precision, and joy which is palpable and yet always sounds fresh and spontaneous. In addition to their entertaining and uplifting concerts, Nobuntu also offers highly impactful engagement activities, which can include school performances, workshops with voice and dance classes, and class visits covering African culture and women's rights. They are at home on campuses as they are in the community, and bring their message of love, respect, and humility wherever they go. Represented By: Shane Cadman, Alliance Artist Management |
About the Artist: Comedian Karen Morgan is bringing her hilarious and nostalgic standup comedy to theaters and performing arts venues across America. Audiences are loving this hysterical trip back to a time when rocks were pets, carpets were shag, and bike seats were bananas. Karen's "Unsupervised & Dehydrated" comedy tour is a hit with folks of a certain age who grew up playing outside without bike helmets, adult supervision, or bottled water - and still managed to survive. And her clean material delivers outrageously funny and real content suitable for a wide audience. Karen has three Dry Bar Comedy specials and recently appeared on "The Talk" on CBS. Her latest album, Shiny Happy People Laughing, was recorded in Athens, Georgia, and named with kind permission from her hometown band, REM. It can be heard exclusively on Sirius XM Radio. "A sold-out show and an audience perpetually rolling with laughter - we killed it by booking Karen! It can be tricky to pull off clean comedy, but her show is off the charts with totally relatable material crafted in a hysterical way that makes your jaw hurt from laughing nonstop for an hour. People came from all over to see her." - Ann Wildman, Gorton Center. Represented By: Mari Sanders, A to Z Entertainment |
